Wow, this blog is public now. The whole world can see my thoughts and judge my writing. Bring it on, internet.
This week has been an incredible array of challenges stretching us physically, mentally, and even emotionally. We worked with designing our own meals (my team made mac n cheese, surprise, surprise), teaching our groups while they were either made to be blind or deaf, and conducting a science experiment complete with a 2 page paper at the end. Nice.
This sounds like a pretty average week here in Paonia for us. Wake up, stretch your limits, eat some lunch, document your limit stretching, eat some dinner, have a meeting, stay up jamming to new music and watching movies, go to bed, and repeat. But next week, this will all be changing. Instead of walking to town 3 miles away and showering twice a week under a sun warmed bag of water, we will be waking up in a hostel, walking outside and stepping into the town immediately. This coming week we are changing our location from the beautiful farm land of Paonia to the beautiful ski town of Crested Butte! My brave group of souls has decided to hike the distance there, a whopping 30 miles, starting at 5 am this Thursday. I am pretty sure we are all crazy, and will be hurting for weeks afterwards, but sometimes you’ve just got to walk it out for a while, so I’m pretty excited.
There isn’t too much more to say, other than a huge thank you and I love you to Paonia, the most beautiful place I’ve had the honor of calling home.
